Bio:

Well, compared to those of you who are living the wild and crazy life, this will be short, but to me, very sweet.

I married about 3 or 4 days after high school graduation.  My greatest desire was to lead the life of June Cleaver – surely if it is on television – you can live just that way.  Six years later, Bobby and I parted ways but only after producing a beautiful daughter, Susan.  Susan graduated from DLHS – attended college at MTSU briefly and now lives just outside Little Rock, Arkansas, married to an attorney, with their bevy of dogs and one cat.  No grandchildren.

In 1970, I met and married Jim Settles – eleven years my senior in age, but just right for me and we have been married almost 36 years.  In the mid-1980s we discovered a wonderful place to relax on weekends – we both had hectic jobs at Saint Thomas Hospital and needed a place to unwind.  Quite accidentally we discovered – in our own state- beautiful Fairfield Glade.  True it is a retirement area, and I still work.  True it is a golf-crazy place, and we do not play golf.  However, it is so beautiful here – full of the glory of nature – except the deer who eat your landscaping unless you go to some lengthy measures to prevent it.  Obviously the peaceful quiet life is not for everyone – but it is our cup of tea.  We are both heavily involved in our church – Fairfield Glade Baptist Church – I am the organist – actually I now play a Clavinova (for any music people out there).

Over the early years of marriage, Jim and I traveled to visit friends and sightsee in many parts of the country – Washington State, British Columbia, Boston, Florida, etc.  We enjoyed an Alaskan cruise a few years back.  However, there is no place like home – particularly if you love your Southern roots.

Fairfield Glade is heavily populated with “Yankees” – those unfortunate souls who were not born in the South.  However, most are wonderful people and we have made so many dear friends here – I hope I will not ever have to live in the big city again.

That’s about it – short and sweet.  It is so wonderful to hear how you all are doing – such accomplishments – and beautiful families.  I went through Lipscomb from second grade through high school graduation and I hold dear the memories of those days.  It was a lovely setting.
